There's been some exciting leadership changes at Causeway this month as we've said goodbye to some long-standing colleagues, and welcomed new ones aboard!

Following the departure of Steve Watson, Amy Bond has moved into the Chief Operating Officer role, while Deepa Mistry has joined the charity as Chief Finance Officer.

As COO, Amy, who joined Causeway in 2015, will have oversight of the Services, People and Culture, Fundraising and Business Development, and Communications and Engagement departments. 

Amy said: “I’m honoured to be moving into this role. During my time at Causeway I’ve seen thousands of lives positively impacted as a result of the team’s hard work. Steve Watson leaves big shoes to fill, and I’m looking forward to building on all that has been developed and continuing our mission to create lasting change.”

New Chief Finance Officer Deepa Mistry, has held a number of senior finance and operations roles at organisations including Cleft Lip and Palate Association, Credit Suisse and Lloyd Banking Group.

In her new role, Deepa will work with the senior leadership team and trustees in directing Causeway’s strategy and ensuring financial health of the charity. She will oversee Finance, IT, Governance, Risk and Procurement.

Deepa said: “I am looking forward to working with the dedicated and deeply compassionate team at Causeway. In a post-pandemic era, the world is waking up to the injustices faced by the marginalised and vulnerable, and I was drawn to Causeway to help sustain the crucial support, freedoms and fair experiences essential to survivors of modern slavery and those caught up in cycles of crime and exploitation.”

On the appointments of Amy and Deepa, Causeway’s Chair of Trustees, Jennie Oswald, said: “Amy has been an integral part of Causeway’s development and diversification, and I am looking forward to working with her further as COO.  She has real warmth and direction in her leadership, and her expanded remit strategically brings together our operations, engagement and services work.”

Jennie added: “I am equally delighted to have Deepa join Causeway.  She brings exceptional experience across finance and business management, and is already proving to be a transformative leader at the charity.”

The appointments of Amy and Deepa follow the news announced in May that Chief Executive Officer, Ed Newton, will be leaving Causeway in November after 11 years with the charity. Recruitment of a new CEO is currently taking place.

On announcement of his departure in May, Ed said: "It has been a privilege to have been a part of the team creating lasting change for the thousands of people supported by Causeway over the past ten years.  It’s been an amazing journey, and I would like to thank the exceptional team of people, many of whom are now close friends, that I have worked alongside.  To all of our staff, partners, volunteers and trustees, thank you.”
