Tropical World (4 out of 5)

Review by Hannah Adkins

Leave Yorkshire's climate behind…. step into Tropical World for an unforgettable fun adventure on a Tropical Island! Whether you love sandy beaches, tropical plants, rainforests or discovering animals you’ve never seen before this place has it all!
Tropical World is a man-made tropical paradise located in Roundhay Park in Leeds and is a must-visit! It’s a brilliant place to go if you find yourself with a free afternoon, however to make the most of it I suggest you set a day aside for this tropical experience!

In the rainforest, you will find waterfalls and jungle pools, with tropical birds and butterflies of every colour flying through the canopy. Keep your eyes open to see some exotic animals on your journey!  You will discover iguanas, snakes and spiders along with many unusual tropical insects. You’ll emerge from the rainforest into the desert, watch out for the cacti and meerkats!

From the heat of the day into the cool of the night! The next place you find yourself is in the secret world of the Nocturnal House. Fruit bats, monkeys, bush babies and sugar gliders; discover animals that can normally only be seen during twilight hours.

If that is still not enough as you continue your trek you’ll discover the steamy waters of the Amazon and hot tropical oceans. Watch out for the red-tailed catfish and piranhas – but keep your distance, they eat almost anything!

And finally, no day trip would be complete without your chance to buy a rainbow rubber from the gift shop which can be found at the end of your adventure along with the café.
Tropical World is just one of the attractions at Roundhay Park, which with its 700 acres of park land, lakeside walks, woodlands, display gardens and sports facilities is an attraction itself if you are a keen explorer.

Party in the Park (5 out of 5)

Review by Dale Adkins

Party in the Park was PROPER HOT this year!

If you missed this year’s Party in the Park you really did miss out. It was mental!  There were over 70,000 people going crazy and burning to a crisp under the sun!

Apart from quality weather and the mad rides, one of the highlights has to be the crowd chucking stuff at Chico. During his act Chico got pounded with everything; bottles, ice creams, sticks and people’s grandmas as well! Well good! Having said that he did say one good thing: ‘I would prefer to be dancing around and looking like a fool than standing still and trying to be cool’, I think that he’s right, what do you reckon? If you just stand around all the time and never do anything a bit crazy, then you have no quality stories to tell your mates!

Besides Chico there were some other good bands! I reckon Rooster were the best and McFly were a close second, check out the rating:

Shayne Ward- 4 stars / No Comment.
Liberty X – 0 Stars / They were pants.They can’t sing!
McFly- 4.5 Stars / Quality version of a classic queen track.
Duncan James -1 Star / why mime in front of 70,000 people?
Rooster - 5 Stars / Great Sound.
Matt Willis- 3 Stars / Robbie Williams wannabe. Not another one.
Frank – 2 Stars / That’s being generous.
Maria Lawson- 2 Stars / Proper boring. Same old, same old.
Chico- 4 Stars / Pant’s singer but very entertaining.

Overall Party in the Park was a laugh. I would recommend it to anyone and the best thing about it was that it was FREE! I would definitely grab loads of mates next year and head down to Temple Newsam Park for next year’s Party in the Park!
