Entertainment Review of June 08
For this month we’ve tried to give you more insight into the world of celebrity than the typical beach-diets the summer usually brings. It’s hot, it’s fresh and here’s what we think about it all…
Bond is Back Oh yes ladies and gents, Mr Craig will be making his sequel as 007 very shortly. The trailer for the new film, Quantum of Solace was scheduled to be released on the internet but was leaked early via You Tube and another US site. This has since been removed and you can see the licensed version on the BBC website. It’s rough and dark, and looks like Craig’s done a top job once again. The film is released on 31 October this year and we can’t wait! Winehouse Gives the Elbow Well, we suppose it wouldn’t be an entertainment review without a feature from our Amy! This week a fan released video footage on his mobile of himself being elbowed by the star herself! The incident happened at the Glastonbury Festival when Ms Winehouse went into the security pit for the last two songs of her set. Are we surprised? Are we shocked? Well, no, actually – we’re getting quite bored of the usual Winehouse headlines. It’s more surprising actually that Amy is being honoured with a waxwork at Madame Tussauds. We’re just curious as to what pose they will put her in. Will they show her in rehab, or being arrested? Or maybe even elbowing a fan! Madonna Denies Divorce This week Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s spokesperson has denied rumours of divorce for the couple. Speculation over Madonna having a relationship with NY Yankees player, Alex Rodriguez, has been quashed by the fact that they share the same manager. We think the Ritchies have done well for this to be the first time the word divorce has been batted around with their names on. To be married for eight years in Hollywood is a long time and we say congratulations to them! Though it is strange to think that Guy still hasn’t reached the age that Madonna was when they got married all those years ago! Twins on the Way Angelina Jolie’s doctor has this week said that her twins will be arriving in the next few weeks. The actress, who isn’t due until August, is being kept in hospital until the birth and is said to be fine. Hopefully all those hospital meals will ‘beef her up’ a bit after fears that Jolie wasn’t eating enough and looked skinny during her pregnancy. The twins will bring the Jolie-Pitt litter to an even six, but why should they stop there? We say keep going guys, soon enough you’ll have a movie crew and will be on the way to taking over Hollywood! Top Gear Blunder After a repeat of one of the shows from July last year, the BBC Trust has criticised the shows presenters for showing irresponsible footage of drinking and driving. OK, so we know Clarkson likes to get himself into a controversial situation every so often, but would he really push the limit this far? Apparently so, the programme shows the guys drinking alcohol whilst driving, trying to reach the Magnetic North Pole. Producers point out however, that being over international waters excludes them from the jurisdiction of drink driving laws, and that they were not shown to be out of control or drunk. Surely there are more serious watershed issues to be dealt with than this small error, though we doubt they’ll make a repeat of the trip after the show also shows frost bite hitting the ‘nether-regions’! And Finally… Some clashes came to light in Big Brother this week after previous racism. Oh and some nominations were made and someone’s going to be evicted. Weird – did you just get deja vu too?!
